PRACTICE AREAS ADMINISTRATIVE LAW (BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS) -- A wide range of representation before all administrative boards and commissions including the Real Estate Commission, the Board of Physicians, Equal Employment Opportunity and Human Relations Commission, Public Service Commissions, Insurance Commissioner, Department of Environment, MOSH, alcoholic beverage license hearings, and numerous other regulatory agencies and licensing boards.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS, HEARINGS, TRANSFERS --Consultation and representation regarding new alcohol licenses or transfers and consult, advise and;LL.... litigate state and local alcohol beverage laws and violations.

ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATION -- Provide service to small and large associations and groups for legal and government relations work as well as assistance in association management for newsletters, mailing lists, event planning, meetings and many other related services. Provide legal, ethics, government relations advice in newsletters and seminars for their memberships.

BUSINESS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND GRANTS -- Representation of small and large businesses in all phases of incentive applications including government grants, loans, other funding sources and infrastructure support and qualifying tax credit applications.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE COMPLIANCE -- Monitor all changes in Federal, Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware, and local governments compliance and reporting.  Advise clients desiring to organize political action committees.  Counsel clients on the development of personnel and corporate policies.  Maintain database of contributions during election cycle. Provide advice and counsel on complying with campaign finance and lobbying disclosure laws.  Represent clients on alleged violations of campaign finance laws. Counsel clients on compliance with Public Disclosure of Those Doing Business with the State of Maryland and other required compliance filings. Organize seminars and materials for employer sponsored ethics advice to employees and others.

CIVIL LITIGATION -- All phases of trial and litigation for minor and complex cases in all area courts and appellate courts, both state and Federal, throughout the Washington, D.C.Baltimore metropolitan area in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia and the Baltimore region.

CORPORATE/BUSINESS LEGAL MATTERS -- General corporate work including shareholders agreements, corporate litigation and matters pertaining to general corporate legal matters and disputes. Partnership and sole proprietorship legal  matters, buying and selling businesses of all types, Uniform Commercial Code transfers, liquor and other license transfers, leases.  We draft formation documents, operating agreements, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements or bylaws to suit your unique business plan.  We represent clients before licensing and regulatory boards and agencies. We review employment practices, personnel handbooks and compliance assistance, employee and independent contractor agreements and service agreements. We represent business clients and others on issues related to employment, discrimination, harassment, defense before various boards and courts. 

Alternative Dispute procedures including Arbitration and Mediation associated with contract and employment disputes.      

CORPORATE GOVERNMENT ETHICS LAW COMPLIANCE -- Counsel clients on ethical interaction of corporations and associations with the General Assembly, the executive branch of state government and local governments.  Provide practical and timely advice on questions pertaining to event planning and reporting, permissible gifts and entertaining. Represent clients before State Ethics Commissions. Obtain specific ethics advice from the commission regarding proposed activities on behalf of clients. Represent clients on alleged violations of government ethics and conduct laws. Advise clients on reporting laws for federal lobbying ethics compliance, Maryland lobbying ethics compliance, Maryland state agency conduct compliance, Maryland county and municipal ethics compliance, and District of Columbia and Delaware ethics compliance. Counsel clients on compliance with Public Disclosure of Those Doing Business with the State of Maryland and other required compliance filings. Organize seminars and materials for employer sponsored ethics advice to employees and others.

CRIMINAL LAW, DWI, TRAFFIC CASE DEFENSE -- All felony, misdemeanor, traffic violations and driving while intoxicated cases.

DEFENSE EEOC, HRC MATTERS -- Defended numerous employers in claims involving EEOC or local human relations commissions on a wide variety of allegations regarding all forms of discrimination and sexual harassment.

ENERGY AND PUBLIC UTILITY LAW -- Practice before Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and District of Columbia Public Service Commissions. Represent clients on gas, electric, telecommunications, water, transportation and energy-related matters.  Provide assistance with mergers and acquisitions, project development, tax and regulatory matters. Assist clients and law firms as local counsel for transactional matters. Advise independent power producers, retail and wholesale energy suppliers, aggregators, brokers, associations, and businesses of all types.   Also represent clients in rule making proceedings, analysis of proposed rules providing opinions and testimony. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments for proposals that would impact our clients. Develop creative legislative and regulatory solutions.  Long standing expertise in public utility and energy law.

FAMILY LAW -- Divorce, separation, child custody and visitation, child support, alimony and spousal support, equitable distribution of marital assets, relocations by custodial parents, adoption. We also handle domestic violence petitions and protective order hearings, including emergency support and custody orders and peace bonds.  We also counsel clients on property matters, temporary and permanent support of the wife/husband and children and restoration of a married woman=s maiden name.  We draft prenuptial agreements, as well as separation and property settlement agreements.

INSURANCE DISPUTES -- Represent individuals and businesses in various types of insurance claims and disputes including employee dishonesty claims, stock fraud cases and business interruption claims.  Explain the nuts and bolts of policies as well as coverage nuances and changes in the law.

LAND USE, ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT -- Representation of clients in all phases of zoning and development law including subdivision, land transfers, rezoning and all issues relating to the permit process of land use and development.

We assist clients in property tax appeals and all other land use issues with state, county and local government. 

LOCAL COUNSEL OPINIONS/TRANSACTIONS –Served as local counsel rendering opinions on many types of business transactions.  Performed and assisted numerous due diligence reviews on many diverse transactions.

LOBBYING AND GOVERNMENT RELATIONS -- A wide range of representation in federal, state and local matters including legislative and executive branches of government, as well as in regulatory matters.

Using an integrated team approach, we provide all aspects of legislative services including analysis of existing and proposed legislation, drafting new legislation, legislative and executive lobbying, coalition development. We advise clients on parliamentary, regulatory and other procedural issues.  Analyze political and policy trends.

Our year-round work with the Maryland General Assembly and involvement for clients in other states along with executive agencies involves hearings, various events, fundraisers, strategy meetings, concept development and bill drafting, attendance at state and national conferences and providing political advice.

Our representation has included drafting of ordinances and resolutions, labor and employment matters, litigation, red light camera issues, drafting of ethics code, drafting and reviewing of contracts, annexation issues, litigation involving Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights, procurement, zoning and development matters, election issues, real estate issues, code enforcement and charter amendments.

NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS - We represent nonprofit organizations in general corporate and contract matters, creating and maintaining tax-exemptions; also on employment matters and real property issues, as well as fundraising, grant assistance and all legislative matters. We represent many nonprofit organizations on lobbying, government relations and all phases of seeking grants, donations and charitable law compliance.

PROCUREMENT AND MARKETING REPRESENTATION -- Legal, lobbying and government relations representation in all phases of state, county and local procurement matters. Our work includes assistance in all phases of an RFP, RFQ, RFI and all other types of procurement matters. We counsel clients on the practical and procedural requirements of winning government contracts.  We assist with development and implementation of strategy, bid preparation, interpretations, clarifications, contract negotiation and formation, as well as protest and appeals.  We keep abreast of ethics provisions and regulations and Minority Business Enterprise goals in the state and the local jurisdictions.
