super

Managing Partner Denise Bowman announced that five of our attorneys achieved “super” recognition, each in a different legal practice area in the upcoming edition of Maryland Super Lawyers.

Super Lawyers acknowledged Gary Alexander in the category of Energy & Natural Resources; Jim Cleaver in the category of Personal Injury Plaintiff; Todd Pounds in the primary category of Employment/Labor Law and secondary category of Business Corporate; Denise Bowman in the primary category of Business Corporate and the secondary categories of Administrative Law and Government Contracts And Lorenzo Bellamy in International Law. Also, Gary and Jim were named in the Top 50 of all Maryland lawyers in all fields.

Nominations are made through a rigorous selection process that includes peer nominations, a blue ribbon panel review and independent research of each attorney. This honor is extraordinary since only five percent of the attorneys in Maryland are chosen each year. Our firm is proud to be recognized by our peers for the exemplary service we provide.

Cas Taylor was appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley as the chair of a new seven member commission that will look at the sustainability of public employees and retirees' benefits. The continuing fiscal realities prompted this look at the affordability and long term sustainability of these benefits.  Cas accepted many challenges during his 28 years in the House of Delegates and as Speaker, and with A&C, but there is nothing more difficult politically than talking about pension or benefit costs. House Speaker Mike Busch and Senate President Miller endorsed the work of the committee.

·   Gary Alexander was selected as one of the winners in the 2010 Daily Record's Leadership in the Law Awards and will be honored at a luncheon in Baltimore. The annual award was created in 2000 to draw attention to Maryland's legal professionals -- lawyers and judges --- whose dedication to their profession and to their communities deserve particular recognition. For over 40 years Gary has provided great strategy, advice and advocacy for clients as a member of the Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia Bar
Associations.
