Michael Herman joined the firm of Alexander and Cleaver in December 2009 as both a lawyer and government relations consultant. Before joining the firm, he served for 7 years as the Chief of Staff to Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson where he oversaw several agencies and had political and operational responsibilities across the government of the second most populous jurisdiction in Maryland. He also oversaw all intergovernmental operations, including representing the county before the Maryland General Assembly. Prior to that, he was an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County focusing on felony prosecutions, logging more 500 jury and bench trials during his tenure. As a lawyer, Michael has been involved with complex civil litigation, commercial transactions, business processes, administrative practice, international law, federal legislative and regulatory practice, criminal prosecution, and general practice.

Michael also likes to give back to the community by serving various roles with non-profit organizations. He has been a Big Brother, founder and past president of the Riverdale Boys and Girls Club, local elected official, board member of Dimensions Health Care (which runs four hospitals and medical facilities in Maryland), and President of the Alice Ferguson Foundation, a leading environmental education organization in the Washington metropolitan region.

Michael lives in Riverdale Park, Maryland.
