Maryland Marketplace - How Can It Help My Business?

As the use of technology in business expands, Maryland is seeking ways to keep pace with our digital society. One of Maryland's initiatives is eMaryland Marketplace. The questions and answers below are designed to provide you with some background information about eMaryland Marketplace to determine if it is right for your business.

What is eMaryland Marketplace?

eMaryland Marketplace is an online procurement system which allows Maryland state agencies, county governments, municipalities, and state school systems to create solicitations, accept bids, and award contracts online. Vendors register with eMaryland Marketplace in order to gain access to this procurement information.

How do I become an eMaryland Marketplace vendor?

Vendors must subscribe to eMaryland Marketplace annually. Currently, there are two subscription levels: Basic Subscription for a fee of $150 annually which provides the vendor with access to enter their business information in the system and to vie for and respond to all open bids; and Premium Subscription for a fee of $225 annually which provides the vendor with the additional benefits of automatic notification of bids via email and a free listing in the business directory. Vendors may subscribe online at http://www.emarylandmarketplace.com.

What can I do as an eMaryland Marketplace vendor?

In addition to being able to participate in the online procurement process, vendors will also be able to provide online catalogs for buyers. If your organization does not already have an online catalog, the staff of eMaryland Marketplace will help you create one. Buyers will be able to make purchases from these catalogs using their government purchase cards. There is a nominal fee of $3.50 for each catalog transaction.

What purchases can be made through eMaryland Marketplace?

Currently, the eMaryland Marketplace purchases have been limited to small procurement purchases under $25,000. A bid board for purchases over $25,000 is also available online at http://www.dgs.state.md.us/procure/index.htm.
