Denise Bowman is a Senior Associate at the Law Offices of Alexander & Cleaver. She joined the firm in 1990 and practices in the areas of business corporate litigation and transactions; government, ethics and campaign finance compliance (federal, state and local); economic development; procurement; and representation before administrative boards and agencies.
Denise regularly advises corporate clients on implementation and development of policies and procedures to assure ethics and campaign finance compliance. Denise has spoken extensively throughout the state on lobbying, ethics and campaign activity. Denise contributes articles of legal significance to a variety of legal, professional and community publications.
She has worked with numerous clients in complex transactions, both large and small, where the firm has served as not only primary, but also as local counsel including drafting all types of contracts, opinion letters and related documents. Her legal work includes the business/real property/corporate issues of transactions and coordination for each client with the A&C attorneys working on the regulatory and compliance issues. A few sample cases in recent years included our representation of:
· Southern Energy and Mirant in the purchase of Pepco's Maryland generating assets (2000 -2002) · FPL Group in the merger transaction with Constellation Energy (2006) · Verizon in various condemnation and land issue cases (ongoing) · Mid-American Energy in the transaction with Constellation (2008)
Acknowledging her commitment to women’s business issues in her community, Denise was awarded “Woman of the Year” by Southern Prince George’s Business and Professional Woman’s Association
