Alexander & Cleaver has hired Brian W. Hammock as Managing Attorney of the Government Relations practice. Brian has been a trusted advisor to Maryland’s top elected officials and business leaders over the past two decades. He has served as lead executive in the MidAtlantic for a Fortune 250 company, as a senior advisor to the Governor of the State of Maryland, a strong advocate for his clients at Maryland’s largest law firm, and as a sought-after advisor in countless elections at the federal, state, and local levels including on-the-ground legislative, budget, and procurement lobbying.
Brian “hit the ground running” to give our clients advocacy, strategic advice, and the representation that has been the hallmark of Alexander & Cleaver for more than three decades.
Brian is no stranger to Alexander & Cleaver, making this a coming home of sorts. Brian cut his teeth in Annapolis working for A&C during the 2003 legislative session. Brian went on to work for then Baltimore City Mayor Martin O’Malley and during O’Malley’s governorship. Brian served as a senior advisor to Maryland’s Governor on a range of matters from legislative to transportation, energy, environment, and the budget.
Most recently Brian has served as the Resident Vice President for CSX Transportation in the Mid-Atlantic. As CSX’s lead executive in the region, Brian worked closely with industrial-sector businesses to secure federal and state funding for infrastructure projects, promote more favorable regulation, and to defeat damaging legislation, providing government relations advice and serving as a lobbyist.
